Boeing says the airline industry
will need to hire more than one million workers over the next 20 years to
prepare for a wave of 30,000 new aircraft according to CNN.

Airways has signed a new financing arrangement with Norddeutsche Landesbank
Girozentrale (NORD/LB), one of the largest state-owned banks in Germany, to
provide permanent financing to the airline for Boeing 737-700 deliveries in

Traffic in August increased 7.0 percent from August 2009,
on a capacity increase of 7.3 percent.
In another sign that airline traffic is picking up, United
Airlines said August traffic rose, and a key measure of revenue was up as much
as 19 percent.
Southwest Airlines’ traffic rose 6.4 percent in August compared with last year, and the
company said Wednesday that a key measure of revenue may have risen as much as
16 percent.
American Eagle, which operates regional flights for American Airlines, said Friday that
August traffic soared 13.8 percent higher compared with a year ago according to

The Air Lines Pilots Assn. representing Continental Airlines pilots said Friday that it has
been informed that Continental will be “recalling all of its pilots from furlough.”
Continental Airlines Inc. said on Wednesday that a closely watched measure of revenue jumped as much as 19 percent in August, and the parent of US Airways said Thursday that August traffic rose slightly from a year ago but revenue per passenger grew faster, a reflection of higher fares and fees.
