Bombardier predicted in its annual Commercial Aircraft Market Forecast released this week that 13,100 new aircraft in the 20-149 seat range will be needed through 2030, which is an increase of 300 units over its previous 20-year forecast. Bombardier reported that the total value of those aircraft is approximately $639 billion.

US Airways expects to see ‘strong performance’ this summer
US Airways President Scott Kirby said that despite its net loss of $114 million in the first-quarter that it will see “strong performance” this summer, and expects to reach double-digit year-over-year growth in May.

U.S. Airline Passenger Traffic Increases 2.9 Percent
The U.S. Department of Transportation reported in a press release that U.S. airlines carried 50.1 million scheduled domestic and international passengers in February 2011. That marks a 2.9 percent increase from February 2010. The February 2011 passenger total was also 0.6 percent above that of two years ago in February 2009.
