Journey From NASCAR to Airline Pilot

I have had the pleasure of helping many very interesting people transition from very interesting careers to do what they have always dreamed of doing in spite of the fact they are already highly successful. We have had doctors, lawyers and very successful business owners come to us for Regional Jet transition training and then proceed to fly for the Regional Airlines on their way to the Majors. Recently I had the pleasure, along with my staff of experienced RJ Instructors, of helping former NASCAR driver Burney Lamar cap off his flight training at ATP and transition to the airlines.

Airlines Go On A Record Breaking New-Jet Shopping Spree

The Associated Press released an article today that really describes the cause of the current pilot shortage. The article talks about how the Airlines are on the largest jet-buying spree in the history of aviation, ordering more than 8,200 new planes with manufacturers Airbus SAS and The Boeing Co. in the past five years. There are now a combined 24 planes rolling off assembly lines each week, up from 11 a decade ago. And that rate is expected to keep climbing. The airlines need new pilots to fly these new aircraft.

What Common Dream Jobs Actually Pay

I read an interesting article in Forbes magazine that was speaking about how the jobs that we all wanted when we were young actually pay now. Not surprisingly, flying for a living was second only to being a professional athlete for young people who were asked what they wanted to do when they grew up. Unfortunately, out of a total population of nearly 313 Million people in the United States only 12,450 of them are professional athletes. The news is much better for those wanting to fly for a living.
