SkyWest Inc. announced Wednesday that combined February traffic jumped 42.4 percent compared to the previous year, and attributes the rise to the November 2010 purchase of ExpressJet Airlines. SkyWest Inc. owns and operates three regional airlines, Atlantic Southeast Airlines, ExpressJet and SkyWest Airlines. The three regional airlines operate flights for several major airlines such as Delta, AirTran, United and Continental Airlines. SkyWest Airlines recently reached an agreement with Alaska Airlines to operate five Bombardier CRJ700s it is acquiring from Alaska's regional airline Horizon Air. SkyWest's combined passenger traffic increased to 1.91 billion revenue passenger miles, or one paying passenger flown one mile, from 1.34 billion a year earlier. Capacity, measured as available seat miles, rose 46.4 percent to 2.57 billion.
