Piper Reports a 75 Percent Increase in Aircraft Sales Compared to Last Year
Piper Aircraft reported more than a 75 percent increase in sales of their aircraft in 2010. According to numbers released Tuesday morning by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, billing for aircraft shipped went from $86 million in 2009 to nearly $120.2 million last year, an increase of nearly 38 percent.

Strong Demand for Business Jets Reported by Bombardier
As the global economy continues to recover, the demand for business jets and pilots to fly them has increased. Bombardier, the world’s third largest civil aircraft manufacturer behind Boeing and Airbus, reported Thursday that it had received 201 aircraft orders this last year, compared to 11 orders for the previous fiscal year.

FAA Forecasts One Billion US Passengers Flying by 2021
Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have predicted that the number of airline passengers flying in the United States will increase 3.5 percent this year, and that the trend will continue with over one billion passengers traveling on US airliners by the year 2021. This updated forecast predicts that number will be reached two years sooner than previously projected.

Major Flight Training Summit Convened by AOPA
In November of 2010, we were asked to participate in the Flight Training Summit that was organized by the Airline Owners and Pilots Association and hosted by AOPA President Mark Fuller. ATP was represented by our Vice President Phil Cooper, who participated in the Summit with over 100 other industry stakeholders who had traveled to Long Beach to address the problem of aviation students dropping out of training at a startling rate approaching 80% at some training facilities.
