American Eagle has informed ATP that it will continue to hire pilots at a robust rate for the remainder of 2010. In addition, Eagle has reported to ATP that they will hire even more, up to 300 new pilots, throughout the year in 2011.
American Eagle is hiring pilots to fill cockpit seats made available by the purchase of 22 Canadair Regional Jets as additions to its existing fleet. In addition, very senior Captains from American Eagle are presently being hired to fly for American Airlines under the terms of a flow-through agreement signed between the two airlines.
American Eagle also reported that its August traffic increased 13.8 percent year over year as capacity increased 13.2 percent. August load factor was 73.1 percent, an increase of 0.4 points compared to the same period last year.
American Eagle boarded 1.7 million passengers in August.
