SkyWest, Inc. Reports Combined July Traffic for SkyWest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines

SkyWest, Inc., which owns and operates Skywest Airlines and Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA), reported an 8.9 percent increase in revenue passenger miles for June, while available seat miles increased 4.5 percent compared to the same period last year.

Revenue Passenger Miles (RPM) is a measure of passenger traffic calculated by multiplying the total number of paying passengers aboard a flight by the distance traveled in miles.

An availlable seat mile (ASM) is a measure of an airline flight's passenger carrying capacity. It is equal to the number of seats available multiplied by the number of miles flown. This measures an airline's capacity for transporting passengers

The combined airlines generated 1.75 billion RPMs for the month, while ASMs increased to 1.92.10 billion. Load factor was up 3.4 percentage points to 83.5 percent compared to 80.1 percent for the same period last year. Passenger boardings for June totaled 3,402,766 an 8.1 percent increase from July 2008.

SkyWest Airlines, based in St. George, Utah, and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc., based in Atlanta, Georgia are wholly owned subsidiaries of SkyWest. SkyWest Airlines operates as United Express, Delta Connection and Midwest Connect carriers under contractual agreements with United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Midwest Airlines. ASA operates as a Delta Connection carrier under a contractual agreement with Delta Air Lines. System-wide, SkyWest serves a total of approximately 206 cities in the United 2,700 daily departures.
